The Thomas Prossor family of Waterford

Descendants of Thomas live in Australia, notably Barbara Prossor-Powell who can be contacted at bprossorpowell at hotmail.com

Barbara has kept a family file "just in case" anyone might want to develop the family tree. She says there are two other extended Prossor families in Victoria but is unsure where they connect.

A note of caution: it is vital that researchers check this line against original sources. A lot of this material was originally based on "The Prossor Tradition" a verbal account of the family given by Barbara's great grandfather late in his life (he died in his 90s) to her grandmother. Barbara says: "It was what he knew, but he knew very little." She says that gt grandfather's father had died when gt grandfather was a toddler - and he was raised by his mother's family, with only limited contact with his Prossor relatives.

1 THOMAS PROSSOR: b. 17?? d. c.1845 Buried St John's Churchyard, Waterford. Survived by 4 sons and 3 daughters and widow. Widow and daughters subsequently left Waterford and resided in England in either Hampshire or Dorset.

2 Thomas Prossor's sons:

SIMON MAX PROSSOR b. ???? d. 190? Bristol England. m. Anna Prossor (one of the Limerick Prossors). Survived by widow 3 sons and 2 daughters.

THOMAS BOYCE PROSSOR d. 18?? m. Mary Lawson. Survived by 2 s and 2 d.

JOHN EDWARD PROSSOR d. c.1847 Buried St Johns Churchyard, Waterford (next to father). m. Alicia Reynette Brownrigg. Survived by widow and 1s. Alicia buried Kensalgreen Cemetery, London.

HENRY GRIFFETH PROSSOR. m. Mary (Maude) Pope (Waterford). Survived by widow and 1s (Henry Percy).
